A RARE CASE OF UNILATERAL PTOSIS WITH SYSTEMIC TOXICITY FOLLOWING SNAKE BITE

Abstract


8 year old girl admitted in paediatic IMCU with history of snake bite over her right eyebrow. She was on  ventilatory support for respiratory paralysis and was treated with antisnake venom. On the 3rd day she recovered and was referred to ophthalmology OPD for drooping of right upper eyelid. On examination, right complete ptosis with facial weakness right side was noted. She showed recovery of ptosis and facial weakness on 7thday and eyelid was normal after 1month.Inspite of systemic toxicity, patient had only unilateral ptosis at the site of bite which was the last to        recover. Unilateral ptosis with systemic toxicity is rare.
