A RARE CASE REPORT ON NEONATAL CEREBRAL VENOUS SINUS THROMBOSIS

Abstract

Cerebral venous sinus (sinovenous) thrombosis (CSVT) is an increasingly recognized cause of childhood and neonatal stroke. Recent developments in the field highlight the expanding spectrum of perinatal brain injury associated with neonatal CSVT. However, morbidity and mortality are significant, highlighting the continued need for high-quality studies within this field. This case report reviews the literature on neonatal CSVT. It presents a diagnostic challenge due to its varied presentation. We report a case of 5 days old          neonate diagnosed with cerebral venous sinus thrombosis after presenting with history of seizure cause being Protein C,Protein S deficiency and Activated Protein C Resistance. Our report highlights the value of prompt diagnosis of CSVT through neuroimaging and importance of immediate                   anticoagulation as a part of patient management.
