An Interesting Case Report On Visual Loss in Pregnancy due to Intracranial Space Occupying Lesion

PUNITHA MEENAKSHI D

Abstract

The occurrence of a brain tumour during                   pregnancy is unusual, jeopardizes the lives of mother and infant and also creates a real challenge for obstetrician and the neurosurgeon. The symptoms can be typical or even atypical. Meticulous examination and evaluation is necessary to suspect a brain lesion. This case is presented to re            emphasize the fact that visual symptoms in Pregnancy does not always imply imminent eclampsia and it can be a                 manifestation of other conditions as well. Hence there is a note of caution worthy of mention that once a person with visual symptoms and signs need to be evaluated further  instead of being treated only for imminent eclampsia. A             treatable organic pathology, found at earlier stages and treated by appropriate means will lead to improved quality of life for the patient. This case is reported for (1) Rarity of the case (2) Importance of detailed evaluation for each of the signs and symptoms reported by any patient presenting to a clinician.
