SURGICAL CORRECTION OF UNUSUAL TYPE OF ECTROPION (TARSAL ECTROPION)

KAVITHA S

Abstract

Outrolling or outward turning of the lid margin is called ectropion. We report a unusual type of tarsal ectropion in which inferior tarsal plate is completely everted. The        patient, a known diabetic, after obtaining fitness from the diabetologist was taken up for the procedure planned. The patient underwent ectropion correction by trans-conjunctival approach with inferior retractor reattachment lateral tarsal strip procedure. Post operatively expected cosmetic               correction and regression of exposure keratopathy was achieved and the patient felt symptomatically better. This case is presented for its unusual presentation.
