ALIGNANT PERIPHERAL NERVE SHEATH TUMOUR OF BREAST IN VON RECKLINGHAUSENS DISEASE A RARE CASE REPORT

KAPIL RAJ S

Abstract

Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumour is a rare clinical entity. It comprises around 10 persentage of all soft tissue tumours and 50 persentage of it arise in pre-existing neurofibromatosis. A high index of suspicion when dealing with a breast lesion in a background of von Recklinghausens neurofibromatosis will make the diagnosis easier. A   40-year-old female presented with complaints of painless, hard breast lump for three months which was clinically    suspected to be a ductal carcinoma with inconclusive fine needle aspiration cytology. Histopathology revealed a  malignant spindle cell tumor which was confirmed to be      malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor based on                 immunohistochemistry. This case is presented for its rarity with respect to its location and association with   neurofibromatosis type-1.
