A RARE CASE OF LEFT AMYANDS HERNIA
Abstract
The presence of appendix in inguinal hernia sac is AMYANDS hernia .It was first described by Claudius amyand in 1735. Amyands hernia is more common in right side but can also occur in left side which may be associated with situs inversus, intestinal malrotation or mobile caecum . This rare condition constitutes 1percent of all the inguinal hernias, whereas inflamed appendix is found in only 0.1 percent of the cases. The incidence of appendicitis in left sided amyands is very rare and the exact incidence is not reported. Complication increases if appendix is the content of hernia sac. Appendicitis , appendicular perforation and gangrene occur rarely.
