RARE PRESENTATION OF BURKITTS LYMPHOMA AS INTUSSUSCEPTION

Abstract


Burkitts lymphoma is B cell lymphoma which is highly malignant and aggressive making 1 percent of   non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Gastro-intestinal tract is mostly affected in non endemic Burkitts lymphoma. Non-endemic Burkitt lymphoma are rarely associated with EBV infection. In adults it commonly presents as peripheral lymphadenopathy or an intra- abdominal mass, B-symptoms ,laboratory evidence of tumor lysis. We hereby presenting a case of a young man presented with right iliac fossa mass , symptoms and signs were misleading as a case of appendicular mass and finally turned out to be a case of ileo-ileal intussusception and histologically a case of Burkitts lymphoma , resection anastamoses of mass was performed, chemotherapy was started Affected terminal ileum in Burkitts dsease usually imitate acute appendicular conditions, prompt investigation and diagnosis and early starting of chemotherapy is found to be associated with higher survival rates.
