SPONTANEOUS RUPTURE OF AN INCISIONAL HERNIA
Abstract
Spontaneous rupture is a rare complication associated with incisional hernia which demands an emergency surgery. This is a case report of sudden spontaneous rupture of incisional hernia in a 48 year old female patient. Hernia was repaired by Open Onlay Mesh repair after repositioning the bowel into the peritoneal cavity and excising the unhealthy redundant skin. Spontaneous rupture of abdominal hernia is a very rare complication. It is a potentially fatal but preventable complication if early surgical intervention is carried out.
