Embedded bangle as vaginal pessary-A case report

JEYASHEELA K

Abstract

Vaginal pessaries are often used as first-line management of pelvic organ prolapse. It is often considered in women who are poor surgical candidates or who decline surgical repair. Pessaries are often well tolerated but when neglected may lead to serious complication. We describe the presentation of a woman where the vaginal pessary was used in the management of pelvic organ prolapse and presented to our outpatient department with foul smelling discharge per vaginum. A red bangle embedded in the posterior vaginal wall was noted and was successfully removed under anesthesia. She had an uneventful perioperative period.
