A GIANT RENAL CYST IN GRAVID WOMAN

Abstract


Giant renal cyst is rare in young woman, that too in association with pregnancy is very rare. A 24year old  primigravida at 15wks gestation presented with complaints of fever, burning micturition and left loin pain. Imaging(MRI) showed 19x16cm left renal cyst (Bosniak type 2F) with moderate hydrouretronephrosis of left kidney. Decompression of cyst followed by excision of left renal cyst wall was done. Histopathology showed Acute on chronic pyelonephritis with benign simple renal cyst. Postoperative period uneventful. Rest of the antenatal period uneventful and patient delivered an alive baby of 3.3kg at term gestation.
