Suspicious prolapse (a rare case report) a real gyneacological dilemma Cervical fibroid

Abstract


Cervical leiomyoma accounts 0.5-1 percent of all leiomyoma. It can be anterior, posterior or central in position. A 47 year perimenopausal female presented with complaints of mass descending per-vagina since 1 year, on local  examination, a globular mass with a central bulbous growth (reddish, soft ) with a circumscribed border lying outside the vaginal introits, which is tubular and probably coming through Posterior lip of cervix. A slit like groove present in the mid of the growth which probably Cervical os. Examination under anesthesia done which showed growth was from posterior lip of cervix and biopsy taken from growth which was   inconclusive. An attempt amputation of cervical tried, but it was difficult to reach the end of the growth hencecoverted to total abdominal hysterectomy and histopathology came as leiomyoma cervix.
