LOW GRADE ENDOMETRIAL STROMAL SARCOMA IN A POST MENOPAUSAL WOMAN A RARE CASE REPORT

VASANTHA K

Abstract

ABSTRACT Uterine sarcomas are relatively rare tumours of mesodermal origin constituting 2 to 6 of uterine malignancies. Endometrial stromal sarcomas (0.2 of all  uterine malignancies) are one of the histologic variants of uterine sarcomas usually seen in perimenopausal females. We report here a case of 60 yr old, post menopausal women presenting with post menopausal bleeding for 6 months,  patient underwent fractional curettage - histopathology report showed endometrial stromal tumour. MRI pelvis supported the diagnosis and we proceeded with total abdominal               hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo oopherectomy,                    histopathology of the specimen and immuno histo chemistry confirmed the diagnosis of Low grade endometrial stromal sarcoma. Patient is on radiotherapy schedule at present as per oncologist advice. This report is aimed to present a case of Low grade endometrial stromal sarcoma because of its rare existence which is even more rarer in postmenopausal woman and difficulty in establishing histological diagnosis.
