Abstract

Paraduodenal hernia, a rare congenital anomaly
which arises from an error of rotation of the midgut around the
superior mesenteric artery. There are two variants, right and
left paraduodenal hernia, the right being less common. We
report the case of a 50 year-old male patient with a right
paraduodenal hernia who presenented with features of acute
intestinal obstruction. Emergency laparotomy was done,
herniation of the small bowel loops through the fossa of
Waldeyer was found. Sac opened bowel replaced in normal
position. Small bowel loop which had herniated was found to
be gangrenous and hence resection and anastomosis was
done.
